I was inspired to make this by biology textbook images of the Cambrian Explosion. I used primary colors for the critters in the painting because ancient organisms are, to us, kind of like what primary colors are to secondary and tertiary colors. Something that can be easy to forget in the midst of the daily grind is that billions of years of evolution, struggles, and happy accidents led to us all being alive today.
